As the production date for the Green Lantern movie comes closer in hand. It seems that news of Ryan Reynold’s alterego as we cross over comic book world to another, Deadpool is still in the works.
Reynold’s who will be playing the role of Hal Jordan will start off launching into space only to find himself face to face with the members of the Green Lantern Corp. Although most of the news flying around about the movie is very little and still under wraps, progress is being made. Director Martin Campbell in a recent interview with MTV explains that action will take place out of Earth’s orbit but just how much of it, is still unknown. This means that they will be bringing in characters such as Kilowog, Tomar-Re and Abin Sur.
“I don’t know what the percentage is, but there’s quite a bit in space,” said the director in an exclusive interview. “The initial trip up there, the training sessions he has to go through in order to become a Green Lantern. Then, of course at the end, he goes back up to Oa again.”
This doesn’t mean that the movie will stray from the planet. Hal can’t go too far without his leading lady Blake Lively as Hal Jordan’s love interest Carol Ferris, “An Education” star Peter Sarsgaard as the villainous Hector Hammond and “Sherlock Holmes” bad guy Mark Strong as Sinestro, Hal’s mentor turned nemesis. Yes the cast is starting to fill out. Giving us more ideas of how this story is going to play out.

MTV has also caught up with Ryan Reynolds during Sundance to not only talk about Green Lantern but the Deadpool spin-off as well. Reynold’s who is a huge fan of the character, and was as disappointed as the fans of how Deadpool turned out to be, is hands on with the writing of the film as he assists Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick tackle the script. The story said to be sticking to the “mythology of ‘Deadpool’ as per request of the actor who is to play the role. Production for the movie is not confirmed and will not be until well after production of the Green Lantern movie starts it’s production in March.
