The music world suffers another loss today as news of underground Japanese beatmaker Jun “Nujanbes” Seba’s death comes to our ears. It was confirmed today that his family buried his body in a private funeral last month and did not hit news until today. Nujabes died in a car accident on February 26, 2010.
Respected worldwide by many hip-hop fanatics and lovers, Nujabes was known for his sick beats which were pretty intricate and complex along with a bit mournful at times. He leaves behind him the many tracks that he’s made some of which recognized through other mediums, such as the anime series Samurai Champloo where he produced the soundtrack, many of his own beats CD. LAweekly blogs also report:
“He also own record stores in Tokyo’s trend-setting Shibuya district, including the well-known Guiness Records and T Records.”
On the DJ Premier Blog, Nujabes’ friend speaks about the remembered DJ:
“Damn, I was such a big fan of the man. Not only his music, but his character too. I remember when a hip hop fan got back from Japan they always asked him if he went to his record shop and took pictures of it and if they met Nujabes himself. Because it was so rarely to see him on image, he communicates with music like no one else did. His vinyl were always hard to get for non Japan heads, it was crazy how they were sold. The underground world really recognized him and always will, no doubt about it. He was one of the best hip hop producer of Japan and that is what he will always be remembered for, R.I.P. my friend, we’ll miss you. 2010, damn…”
Again another tragic loss in the world of music. Jun “Nujabes” Seba may your soul rest in peace, and your beats reach the heavens. You will be missed.
