The movie about the beloved little blue humanoids directed by Raja Gosnell adds a new member to the cast. The live-action adaptation of the animated series with the same name is now adding Sofia Vergara to the mix. The Columbian beauty will be playing Neil Patrick Harris’ wife. Little is still known about the details of each character, and much less is known about the actual story itself.

Smurfs starts shooting next week, aiming for their July 2011 release date.

Along with Sofia, other names will be joining the cast. Some to voice the Smurfs and some as human actors Quentin Tarantino, Jayma Mays, Kevin James, Hank Azaria as Gargamel, and Neil Patrick Harris, just to name a few. More news of The Smurfs movie to come as they develop.
