Walking Dead Info

The Walking Dead is a comic book created by Robert Kirkman and distributed through Image Comics which started back in 2003. The Walking Dead is centered on Rick Grimes, a small-town police officer from Cynthiana, Kentucky, his family, and a number of other survivors who have banded together in order to survive after the world is overrun with zombies. As the series progresses, the characters become more developed, and their personalities shift under the stress of a zombie apocalypse.

The origins of the outbreak are unknown to the characters and the readers. Since the storyline mostly follows Rick Grimes, who was comatose at the time the outbreak started, no information of how the outbreak began has been shown. There have been instances with the various introductions of new characters over the course of the series where their own perspectives and knowledge of the beginning of the crisis was revealed.

Since the beginning of the series there has been 11 trade paperbacks 5 hardcovers and 2 Limited Omnibus Editions (24-issue collactions) and 48 paperback issues. The Walking Dead has established itself as one of the leading comics out there. Besides names like Spawn as being one of Image Comics’ big hit, The Walking Dead has also made a name for itself in the comic world as fans continue to read and follow the undead adventure.

Just recently AMC has picked up a six-episode run for a live-action adaptation of the comic. THR reports on how Charlie Collier, AMC president, views the show:

AMC strives to make original shows that play like movies and The Walking Dead is a perfect complement to the network’s celebrated movie franchise, Fearfest, which has always been an important destination for our audience. With its depth of story and the remarkable talent attached, The Walking Dead gives us an opportunity to raise the bar significantly within this popular genre, and continue our commitment to being the home of premium programming on basic cable.

Certainly looking forward to how this is going to turn out as a huge step for Image Comics is ahead of them.
