Director Guy Ritchie and actors Jude Law and Robert Downey, Jr. are returning for Sherlock Holmes 2. Warner Bros have announced a Dec 16, 2011 release date, which will pit the film against Mission Impossible IV and Martin Scorcese’s 3-D film.

Producer Joel Silver also says that Rachel McAdams will be returning for the sequel as he confirms with Sci-Fi Wire. Silver also confirms that the film will revolve around and play off of Holmes’ archnemesis Moriarty.
