Hey everyone! So here’s a little something about an event that you guys might be interested in if you live around the Bay Area, California. This is taken directly from the HIDEO kickstart website. I think it’s worth checking out, if you’re a fan of great music, and by great music I mean music from Anime and Video Games. You’ve heard of VGL (video games live) where they have the orchestra playing songs from various video games while they have videos on the big screen above. Well this one doesn’t just play the music or showa video, it tells a story… Read more about it below:
There are other concerts of video game music. I’ve seen them all and they were pretty cool. However, I feel there is so much more owed to fans that no one has attempted to give them yet. These concerts simply don’t do justice to the amazing music of this genre. My friends and I can do better, and we plan to put on the most AWESOMEST concert of anime and video game music ever!
What we have in store is an immersive musical experience. The audience is invited on an epic quest in which music from anime and video games helps tell the unique story of our hero, Hideo. And we’re not just hiring a local orchestra and handing them the sheet music. Instead, we’ve found the most talented musicians the San Francisco Bay Area has to offer, and will present music from across several genres instead of just one; the music will be performed by over 30 passionate musicians from Novato to Santa Cruz and everywhere in between with actors, costumes, brilliant lighting, and of course an absolutely captivating and all-original story! The show will feature live performances of music from Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Noir, Final Fantasy, Mega Man, ICO, Legend of Dragoon, and a few more. What could be more awesome than watching the action unfold in front of you as Mega Man music rocks the crowd?! There will be something for everyone: action, adventure, romance, jazz, rock, orchestral, even a little opera. As I said – most AWESOMEST concert ever!
Of all the expenses required to successfully put on a show of this magnitude, our single largest expense is using the 2,089-seat world-class concert venue Zellerbach Hall on the UC Berkeley campus. The venue requires payment in full of the expected cost prior to the show – well before the majority of ticket sales come in – to the tune of $30,000.
We thought such a unique yet popular idea as this concert would grab sponsorship from some big industry names, but it looks like it’s up to us to make this happen. We can cover the other show expenses and $10,000 of the venue cost; we need your help for the rest! Posters, tickets, and other really cool stuff is up for grabs. Want to back us but can’t make the show? Let us know! We’ll send you a DVD of the performance by March 2011 (6 months after the show) along with the show program as a substitute for tickets (email for more info on ticket substitutes).
Bottom line, Hideo is a can’t-miss experience. This August, at Zellerbach Hall on the UC Berkeley campus, a hero will fall… and another will rise. Come find out what happens to the man who loses everything.
