SDCC 2010: Thor Trailer

Thor movie

Here is a gritty look at the trailer shown last weekend at the San Diego Comic-Con for the upcoming Marvel Studios Thor movie. I’m not entirely sure if this is an official video, so it may be taken off soon if not, however it’s here for everyone to see right now so take advantage while you can.

While it’s not in it’s full HD quality, it still brings the pictures out and the trailer looks well enough to give almost the same excitement as it gave the audience in attendance for the Marvel Studios panel on Saturday afternoon.

In this trailer we get to see both the Asgardian Realm as well as Thor’s involvement within Earth. The looks of the film seem to be quite an epic proportion of it’s own. It’s also taking the more modern approach to the Thor character, having his identity known to him as he comes down to Earth. This may upset some of the Dr. Donald Blake/Thor version where he has two alter-egos both of which do not know of each-other in the beginning. Only the great hammer Mjolnir grants Blake the power of Thor, and when the deed is done he returns to his normal life having no recollection of being Thor. This is not the story, instead Thor is sent down to Earth by his father Odin as punishment and he is fully aware of who he is and where he came from, only that he is stripped of his Godly powers and cannot be the Norse God he truly is without being able to wield his hammer.

Though during the panel, Kevin Feige and director Kenneth Branagh who both enjoyed the Donald Blake version, say that there are elements of Donald Blake thrown into the film that the fans would recognize and appreciate. So it’s not a completely different Thor, just a Thor that fans could grow and appreciate and possibly relate to a little bit more. We’ll just have to wait and see when the film comes out.

For now, the trailer looks amazing, and when the full HD version comes out be sure to come back to us to watch it. Check out the trailer below:
