Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow review

This is a game that I’ve been waiting to see on the  PS3/Xbox 360 for quite some time . To me the Castlevania series has always been about adventure and intense action. Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow did not disappoint. The game features Gabriel Belmont and he is sent on a quest by the Brotherhood Of Light to find out the cause for what is happening with the world. Though Gabriel has that mission, his real mission is to free the soul of his reccently murdered wife from the Lake Of Oblivion.

Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow by Konami has a great storyline and continues to unravel throughout the game. The gameplay is fun and keeps the player on the edge of their seat. I personally enjoyed the attention spent to the realistic and highly detailed environments, villians, and characters. It doesn’t matter if you’re fighting creatures in a forrest/swamp/castle area or just walking through an abandoned town, Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow really helps the player feel immersed within the game. Another aspect I liked about the game was the ability to power up your character as the game progresses. As you continue to destroy creatures, you earn experience points and those points are used to learn new abilities and combos for example a learned ability is being able to throw more than one dagger at a time.

There were a couple things about the game I didn’t like. First off, you may see this huge area to explore and a lot of open land but Gabriel is unable to travel where ever he wants. Your character is limited to a single direction/path only. The other thing I didn’t like was not being able to change camera angle yourself. Some games give you full control of the camera angle and if needed lets you change your viewing angle to your liking. Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow makes its own camera adjustments.

Despite my minor dislikes, Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow is a great game to play and full of excitment. To be honest, the last time I played a Castlevania game was Castlevania 2: Simon’s Quest on the old school Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). I enjoyed playing Castevania: Lords Of Shadow; it was a great improvement to the series. If you’re a fan of the Castlevania series you’re going to enjoy playing this game as much as I did. With that said, my rating for Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow is 4/5. If you’re still not convinced, check out the trailer below and feel free to comment with your thoughts on the game.
