Sorry to leave everyone hanging there for a minute but I am back with THIS WEEK IN MOVIES! Starting us off in the news segment is the Spider-Man reboot. It is reported that they are going to take the recent Spider-Man musical and adapt it for the big screen! Okay, I am just messing with you but the reboot’s new Peter Parker, Andrew Garfield (Social Network), recently talked to the BBC News about Tobey Maguire passing on the spidey torch:

Andrew Garfield
“[Maguire] sent me a lovely message through a mutual friend. He gave me his support and it meant a great deal of course because part of the reason I love and have continued to love this character was because of his portrayal. To step into those shoes is no mean feat,” Garfield said during a recent appearance on BBC News….”It was generous of him to reach out and say something,” he added. “So I’m thankful….I feel like comic books are our Greek mythology, like a modern Greek mythology,” he explained. “I kind of equate the themes, and I think a lot of people would agree, the themes that Stan Lee was writing about in his comics are the same themes you’d find in Shakespeare … or in these tragedies. I feel that all of the same human themes are in there, and it’s just under a different kind of guise” (MTV.com).
Tobey Maguire
Tobey Maguire has really done justice as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and it is a shame that he won’t be returning but we will see how Garfield and the reboot hold up in comparison. From superheroes to wizards we have news on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. If you do not know, part 2 of the “Deathly Hallows” had to do some reshoots for the epilogue because many were not happy with the makeup that was to portray the actors as older (www.slashfilm.com). Daniel Radcliffe spoke to www.slashfilm.com about the reshoots a little over a month ago saying:
We’ll be reshooting parts of it, I think…It was an interesting one, because I think we made it very hard on ourselves, because we shot it at King’s Cross, for real. And, you know, this time we’ll be shooting it in Leavesden on a set, because it’s…We made it very hard on ourselves. To have to rush that sequence, and it’s an important sequence, is not something that any of us want to do. So I think next time, when we come back to it and revisit certain moments in it, we’ll be trying to keep it paced slowly…
Also, actors Bertie Gilbert will play Draco Malfoy’s son, Scorpius Malfoy; Benedict Clarke as young Severus Snape; and Kelly MacDonald as the Grey Lady (www.reelzchannel.com). Like many I am looking forward to the new “Harry Potter” film but then again it is the last one: it’s a bittersweet ending. All right lets look at this week’s movie standings with Boxoffice.com:

2. True Grit (2010)
