ABC’s been in the process of developing a reboot of the Charlie’s Angels television series. Reboots seem pretty in these days, especially with the success of CBS’s Hawaii 5-0 reboot, it’s proven that people will watch. The Charlie’s Angels reboot, that is being overseen by Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar, seems to have found their”Angels” for the show. Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor are in final negotiations to star alongside Annie Ilonzeh on the show.
While these names are unfamiliar, they are not new to the business. Ilonzeh is no stranger to television as she has had a role on General Hospital. Minka Kelly starred in Friday Night Lights and could be seen in the upcoming film The Roommate. While Rachael Taylor could be spotted in Transformers and Shutter.
Deadline has info on casting notes, crew and the roles of the newly formed Angels:
Rachael Taylor plays Abby, the youngest and sassiest of the group, and the “privileged daughter of a notorious Wall Street crook”. She’s an expert con artist, as well as an expert in the defensive combat system Krav Maga.
Annie Ilonzeh plays Kate, the most serious of the trio. She’s a highly intelligent and athletic ex-cop and martial arts master who nonetheless knows “how to let her hair down and have a great time”.
Minka Kelly, meanwhile, is having her role reworked to better suit her. She would be playing Marisa, a neat freak and former U.S. Marine trained in all forms of weaponry and hand-to-head combat.
One of the producers of the original show, Leonard Goldberg and Drew Barrymore are on board as executive producers. So you can expect the same angels but adding the fun twist the latest movies have had. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar join in developing the show as well as writing the pilot for the TV series.
While there is still no word on who’s playing Bosley, Robert Wagner (best known for his role as Number 2 in the Austin Powers movies) will be playing Charlie.
