James Blunt: Some Kind Of Trouble

Hello my fellow Whargarblers. Welcome to my first album review of 2011. I’ve been struggling with finding something really good to begin the year with and James Blunt: Some Kind Of Trouble seemed to be the perfect choice.

Some Kind Of Trouble is the 3rd studio album from James Blunt. His first album Back To Bedlam was released on June 13th, 2005 and he has come a long way since then. Here is what James Blunt had to say about the album: “It captures a bit of the mood of the early ‘80s. There was a global atmosphere in the West that we could do anything – the same optimism we felt as teenagers. ‘Some Kind Of Trouble’ really captures that same sense of freedom and excitement and naivety. These new songs are not about fame and celebrity – they’re about reality, I’ve been hanging out with my friends, writing songs about the world we live in, and where we want to go.”

The album James Blunt: Some Kind Of Trouble was released January 18th, 2011 on the Custard/Atlantic label. Here’s the track listing:

  1. Stay The Night
  2. Dangerous
  3. Best Laid Plans
  4. So Far Gone
  5. No Tears
  6. Superstar
  7. These Are The Words
  8. Calling Out Your Name
  9. Heart Of Gold
  10. I’ll Be Your Man
  11. If Time Is All I Have
  13. Turn Me On

James Blunt: Some Kind Of Trouble is an incredible album and is enjoyable from beginning to end. I personally am new to his music and enjoyed listening to the album. There is not one song I dislike. ‘Some Kind Of Trouble’ starts off perfectly with Stay The Night. It’s an upbeat song about enjoying the day and having fun. The same kind of energy seems to flow throughout the entire album. James Blunt wraps up his third album nicely with the rockin song “Turn Me On”. It’s a simple song about a guy being interested in a woman and wanting her to be interested in him.

Since I didn’t dislike any of the songs, I think it’s easy to say that my rating for James Blunt: Some Kind Of Trouble is a definate WORTH OWNING. If you like listening to easy/light rock, then you’re going to enjoy this album as much as I did. If you’re still not convinced, here’s James Blunt’s video for Stay The Night:
