Hello Whargarbl fans! Welcome to my fourth album review of 2011. This time I thought I would change things up a little bit and review an album from a genre that I’ve never reviewed…..R&B! With that said, the album I’m reviewing is Jennifer Hudson: I Remember Me. This is the second album from Jennifer Hudson and here is what she had to say about the album….”I’m excited about this album because it’s almost like a renewal for me, reflected through the chapters of my life. I’ve called it ‘I Remember Me’ because of the journey I’ve been on. I’ve learned that life constantly surprises you, no matter your plans. My fans have been so loyal, I feel like they have been on this journey with me and I can’t wait for them to hear the new album.” I Remember Me was released yesterday March 22, 2011 on the Arista records label. Here’s the track listing:
1. No One Gonna Love You
2. I Got This
3. Where You At
4. Angel
5. I Remember Me
6. Gone
7. Everybody Needs Love
8. Why Is It So Hard

11. Feeling Good
12. Believe
Jennifer Hudson: I Remember Me is an amazing album and is full of soul! It’s an album that’s full of energy, inspiration, and has a majority of upbeat songs. Tempos vary throughout the album and none of the songs disappoint. No One Gonna Love You is a great introduction to I Remember Me. It’s a straight forward love song and gives a strong sense to what type of songs are coming from the album.
Lyrically the album ranges in topics from different relationship situations to over coming obstacles to songs about having a good day/being in a good mood. After listening to I Remember Me I could tell Jennifer Hudson had different places to go emotionally. I personally enjoyed listening to this album and every song is favorite of mine. I did say there’s a majority of upbeat songs; the only slower-paced songs were Where Ya At and Still Here but even those are a joy to listen to. The final mix of I Remember Me was produced by Clive Davis & Larry Jackson but each individual song had its share of producers including Alicia Keys, R. Kelly, Swizz Beatz, Salaam Remi, and Ne-Yo to name a few. My grade for Jennifer Hudson: I Remember Me is A+ If you’re a fan of R&B or new to this genre, I highly recommend getting s copy of this album. Jennifer Hudson: I Remember Me can be found on Itunes, Amazon, and your local retail stores.
