THIS WEEK IN MOVIES!

It is good to be back and bringing you guys the news with THIS WEEK IN MOVIES! Before I get back to business as usual I want to say thanks to Jason aka Midnyte for doing an amazing job the covering last week’s THIS WEEK IN MOVIES! And now for some SUPER news…sorry I could not resist. We have been keeping up with the updates on Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot and it seems like they have a new addition to their cast. Filling in the spot as Lois Lane is none other than Amy Adams. After the announcement of her joining the film Snyder had this to say about Amy Adams (Examiner):

We are excited to announce the casting of Amy Adams, one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today. Amy has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois: smart, funny, tough, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful.

Amy Adams

Amy Adams would be starring along side Henry Cavill as Superman, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, and Diane Lane as Martha Kent in Snyder’s Superman: The Man of Steel which is set for December 2012.  It seems like a pretty solid cast and even though Christopher Reeves and the rest of the cast of 1978′s  Superman movie will always be the standard, it is nice to have a fresh take on the story. From superheroes to monsters we have new developments from the team at Pixar. If you were a fan of Monsters Inc. (2001) then jump for joy because there is a sequel on the way. Billy Crystal (Mike Wazowski), John Goodman (Sully), and Steve Buscemi (Randall Boggs) are all expected to be back scaring in Monsters University, set for 2012, which is said to be a prequel (Hollywood Reporter). Okay settle down kids as we check the weekly standings with Boxoffice.com:

Now if you want to add to your movie collection then the Blu-ray debut of The Ten Commandments (1956) may be for you. The description of the Blu-ray states (Yahoo):

Director Cecil B. DeMille’s legendary 1956 biblical epic celebrates its 55th anniversary, fully restored and in high definition for the first time ever, with over an hour of new bonus material, a commemorative book, the 1923 silent version of the film and more. Filmed in Egypt and the Sinai with one of the biggest sets ever constructed for a motion picture, and starring Charlton Heston and Yul Brynner, The Ten Commandments tells the triumphant story of the life of Moses. Once favored in the Pharaoh’s household, Moses turns his back on a privileged life to lead his people to freedom.

Blu-ray featurette clip:

It was one of the biggest films of its time and stands as one of the top ten films in 10 classic genres by The American Film Institute (Comingsoon.net). And if it is not for you it might make a great gift for someone; I know my grandparents will appreciate it!
