“Thunder.. Thunder… Thunder… Thundercats… HO!!!” If you’ve grown up watching shows like this you cannot forget that iconic shout as Lion-O holds his sword up into the air. During WonderCon 2011, for 1 hour on Sunday afternoon, it became THUNDERCON! The Thundercats took over the esplanade ballroom, and showed this exclusive trailer for Wondercon attendees.

Warner Bros. Animation presented the first-ever fan-convention panel for the new series during WonderCon, featuring producers Michael Jelenic (Batman: The Brave and the Bold) and Ethan Spaulding (Avatar: The Last Airbender), art director Dan Norton and Larry Kenney — who provides the voice of Claudus in the new ThunderCats and was the original Lion-O in the 1980s version. The four talked about the creative vision for the new series and also answered fan questions.

The new series doesn’t stray much away from the original story, but definitely do expect the animation to b very different. It has a new feel to it, and the anime styled action packed animation definitely is a huge plus on my list for the series. Based upon the iconic 1980s action classic, ThunderCats tells the epic tale of Lion-O and his battle against evil in the quest for the fabled Stones of Power. The series is executive produced by Sam Register (Teen Titans, Ben 10, Batman: The Brave and the Bold).
