WonderCon 2011 in Downtown San Francisco brought a lot of talent out and this year they were bringing some of T.V.’s “A gamers.” Human Target who stars Mark Valley and Jackie Earle Haley, based off of characters from the DC Graphic Novel with the same title, was one of them. There was a panel on Sunday that had a special treat for fans that attended as they delivered a special video presentation prepared exclusively for WonderCon, followed by the question and answer with the cast and crew.
During the press interviews, there was a floating question that came about between members of the press and the cast and crew of Human Target. The question was if this show was going to be returning for a third season? The very hopeful cast and crew thinks so, as well as the fans who hope that this will be true. “As far as I know, Warner Bros and Fox have been incredibly supportive of the show,” Miller says during the press event “I honestly think that it isn’t a ‘no’ and they aren’t telling us. I think they genuinely do not know which way it is going to go. We are hoping.”
Earlier this year, it seems as if Human Target fans may have been watching the final episodes airing on FOX Wednesday nights. All of a sudden the show kind of just vanished, the show has been off the air for nearly two months, and many people are still waiting to see what happens next. Matt Miller and series stars Mark Valley (Chance), Jackie Earle Haley (Guerrero) and Janet Montgomery (Ames) showed up at the panel this weekend. While there is still no word from Fox about whether the show will be back for a third season, Miller encourages fans to “call Fox and rally” if they really want it renewed.
During the press event, Miller commented on the show’s fate – “You want to be able to say we got picked up,” Miller says. “Unfortunately, we don’t know either way. I think that for Fox it’s going to be about how their pilots turn out certainly. I think there will also be some license fee negotiations and things of that nature. We won’t know anything until May.”
For those of you who are wondering what’s going to happen to the characters, Mark Valley gives incite to what his character may go through if Season 3 is picked up. “In terms of Chance’s overall arc, in the first episode he was closed down to the world and focused on doing his job and having some confusion about it and coming out of it,” Valley says. “The second season he started to open up a little bit. He had to in order to communicate with people, especially with the female characters. I’d like to see the third season where Chance really takes a leap and says ‘I’m really going to live in this world with regular people, I’m really going to give it a shot and go all the way and see how that works for him.’”
Please let us know what you think, and if you’re a supporter of this show which, I will admit was done pretty well. The unfortunate downfall of the show was finding a good time slot as it’s last months on the small screen has been moved around from Wednesdays to Fridays and taking small breaks. DISCUSS below in the comments whether or not you want this show to come back on. As for me, I’d like for it to return for a third season.
