THIS WEEK IN MOVIES!

I hope everyone had a good Easter, and while you are gnawing on that leftover box of Peeps you can check out THIS WEEK IN MOVIES! So what have you missed? Well, we a couple updates on Academy Award winner Jeremy Renner. If it seems like he his popping up a little bit more lately, then you are kind of right. Renner is set to star in several big upcoming movies, so get prepared to see more of him!

Jeremy Renner

One of the films that he recently landed was The Bourne Legacy. The Bourne franchise that turned Matt Damon into an action star has been handed over to Renner in a compromise.  According to Vulture, director Tony Gilroy wanted lesser known actor Joel Edgerton to play the main character while Universal wanted actors like Garret Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch, Shia LaBeouf or Colin Farrell for a more youthful cool appeal. As you can tell, nobody really won (except Renner!) and they compromised.  In my opinion, he is a good actor and has already proven he has the chops to pull of some serious action. So sticking with Jeremy Renner, we go to the other end of the movie spectrum as it is announced that he will star in the fourth Ice Age sequel called, Ice Age: Continental Drift. The movie will star returning actors Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo, Sean William Scott and Josh Peck; newcomers to the film are Jennifer Lopez, rapper/singer Drake, Aziz Ansari, Wanda Sykes, and Keke Palmer (Reuters). To me the Ice Age movies have been consistently funny so I am looking forward to it. But for Renner going to no nonsense intensity like Bourne, to family friendly Ice Age…polar opposites (non pun intended!). Here is the teaser for the sequel:

So lookout for the actor as he will also star in future films Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, and The Avengers (IMDb).  Okay lets take a break now and look at the weekly standings with Boxoffice.com:
