Casting: Seven Dwarfs for Snow White

While Universal is working on their own version of Snow White, Relativity Media is brewing up their own pot of poison apples as well. Now it seems as if it’s just a race to the finish with a goal in mind to beat the competition in quality and performance. Though it may be a race to see who comes out in theaters first, as it’s looking right now. Relativity Media is moving forward at a very nice and steady pace during this project.

The Brothers Grimm: Snow White from Relativity Media has left that title behind and is now just tentatively called the Untitled Snow White Film. Tarsem Singh will be directing Lily Collins as Snow White, Armie Hammer as the Prince and Julia Roberts as the Queen. Nathan Lane will be “the Queen’s hapless and bungling servant, Brighton.” And Robert Emms will be the prince’s valet.

Relativity press release describes the film as:

In Relativity’s Snow White, a spectacular reimagining of the classic fairy tale, an evil queen steals control of a kingdom, and an exiled princess enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright in a spirited adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance, and betrayal that will capture the imagination of audiences the world over.

The main parts have been filled in, and now to cast the all important Seven Dwarfs, and other bits of the story.

Sebastian Saraceno (Bedtime Stories), Jordan Prentice (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle), Mark Povinelli (Water for Elephants), Danny Woodburn (Watchmen),  Ronald Lee Clark (Epic Movie), Martin Klebba (Hancock) and Joey Gnoffo (Pirates of the Caribbean ) will all be playing parts as the Seven Dwarfs in the film.

Little is still known about the dwarfs and their parts in the story, but the plot description states that they are “seven resourceful rebels”. So it may be safe to assume that they are vital and could have a bit of screen time.

Mare Winningham (Brothers) will now play Baker Margaret and Michael Lerner (Elf) will be Baron. It’s the perfect spot for a few of the actors to step into the spotlight and be known to audiences.

Relativity has moved the release date of the film up to March 16, 2012.

Pitting the Snow White against the likes of John Carter, 21 Jump Street and The Hunger Games.
