Damon Lindelof one of the masterminds behind LOST is looking to pick up the pen again for another project. It seems he’s taken a liking to being a screenwriter, having worked on the Cowboys & Aliens script with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. Co-writing with the same two for the Star Trek sequel, and rewriting Ridley Scott‘s Alien prequel to the ground. Changing it so much that it became an ‘original’ project, entitled Prometheus. It now looks as if Disney is looking to channel into his creative aspirations, and hired Lindelof for a secretive sci-fi original project.
Very little is known about this project being that Disney is keeping it really tight. Deadline, however, reports that the working title for the film is 1952. Which may suggest a time period for the film’s setting. Script details are still unknon.
Lindelof is looking to produce the film as well. Though it’s hard to tell how well he will do as a writer, seeing that we still have yet to see his work on screen. I am interested to see how this will all turn out. I was a big fan of the LOST series, but writing for film is different, I’ll have to wait for Cowboys & Aliens to see his skills with the pen, though it will only show very little being that he co-wrote for the film.
If I were to base this project off something, I will have to base it off the Disney backing. That alone gives me a pretty solid point that the film might turn out to be a grand scaled project. This project may be floating about for a while, seeing as how there’s still the Star Trek sequel to write. We may not hear about the project again until that’s done, but as soon as we hear something we’ll be sure to let you know about this mysterious sci-fi film that Disney will be backing.
